In response to the continuing requests for more accommodation and care services at Southern Cross St Catherine's Villa, work is underway on the construction of 17 new Supported Living Apartments.

The development will also provide a new dining, lounge and sitting room facilities, plus a large Activities room, a new kitchen, Doctor's consulting room, staff rooms etc.

The project will cost approximately $5.1, much of which will be spent locally. In addition to providing additional care services the extension will provide approximately 6-7 extra part-time jobs for locals.

The extension is welcomed with open arms by Nerelle Reimer, Care Team Manager at St Catherine's, who said that she regularly feels quite disappointed in having to turn away an older person who really needs care. Nerelle added "it will be really good not to have to say no to anyone in the future".
